President Donald Trump pursued a number of different venues before entering politics, including reality television. President Donald Trump is currently the 47th U.S. President, having been elected back in November 2024. He previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.
Barron is President Donald Trump’s fifth and youngest child. He is also the president’s only child with First Lady Melania Trump.
President Trump recently sat down to speak with Sharyl Attkisson as part of a televised interview on Full Measure. During the conversation, the question of whether Barron would be interested in a career in politics also came up.
At one point, Attkisson asked, “Do you see your son Barron going into politics someday?” The president mused that it could be possible. As he shared, “Well, maybe, he’s certainly a popular guy.”
President Trump expanded on this, however, feeling, “But I have a lot of members of my family that are very popular, you know? … I have good kids, I have very good kids.”

During A Previous Interview, The President Shared That He Thought His Youngest Son’s Future Would Take A Different Path
Interestingly, during a previous discussion of his youngest son’s future, he thought Barron would pursue other ambitions. In a March 2025 interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, the president shared that he thought that “technology…maybe technology” was his son’s true calling.
At the time, Trump joked that Barron understood computers better than him. He shared, “I turn off his laptop … I go back five minutes later, he’s got his laptop. I say, ‘How did you do that?’ ‘None of your business, dad.’”

During this interview, Ingraham notably asked Trump if he thought Barron could one day be president. At the time, he simply shared, “I don’t know.” When Ingraham mused that Trump’s other children could also be potential presidents, he replied, “In a certain way, they all could.”
As previously reported, Barron is known for keeping out of the spotlight amid his father’s presidencies. However, during his father’s campaigns, he was known for being an influence during his father’s social media appearances, including podcasts.
As noted by The Hill, Melania also spoke about her son shortly after his father was re-elected. At the time, she shared, “I’m very proud of him about his knowledge, even about politics and giving [advice] to his father — he brought in so many young people. He knows his generation, because nowadays the young generation, they don’t sit in front of TV anymore.”
