Ramones have announced a special tribute event taking place on Aug. 30 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.
The event will mark 50 years since Ramones’ self-titled debut LP, including the first live performance by the Cretin Family — a supergroup comprising Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, blink-182’s Travis Barker, CJ Ramone, and other surprise guests.

“The spirit of the Ramones is alive in every backyard punk show, punk club, and festival,” Armstrong says. “Generation after generation of cretins and weirdos become Ramones lovers. Kids are influenced by the Ramones, and they don’t even know it yet. ¡Viva Ramones!”
Actor John Travolta will host the event, which also features a double feature screening of the 50th anniversary of the film Carrie and Travolta’s new movie, Propeller One-Way Night Coach. Proceeds will benefit David Agus MD Cancer Research at Ellison Institute.
Before the event, a limited-edition picture disc pressing of Ramones will drop on July 17, with a 2LP colored edition of the Ramones’ Live at The Roxy on July 31.
