While most of Samsung’s July 2026 Unpacked event focused on new phones, the company took some time to share details about its upcoming smartglasses designed in partnership with Google and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

Samsung’s “intelligent eyewear” will come to the U.S. and South Korea this fall, though the company hasn’t shared any details about whether the glasses will come to Canada.

Google and Samsung will start their glasses roadmap with non-display models featuring always-on intelligence and an “audio forward” interface. However, the companies didn’t share any details about the possible display-equipped smartglasses.

During the presentation, Samsung touted efforts to reduce the weight of the glasses, including a seamless hinge designed to minimize bulk. Samsung says its glasses are lighter than most comparable smartglasses. Interestingly, one clip of the glasses Samsung showed on stage depicted a physical switch on the inside of the arm. It’s not clear what the switch is for, but my guess is it’s for disabling the camera.

The company revealed some details about the battery life as well, noting that the glasses can get nine hours from a single charge, and the case can recharge the glasses seven times.

Elsewhere, Samsung teased how the glasses can work with other devices in its ecosystem. That includes connectivity with smartwatches and phones, like using the camera on the glasses for a video call or using your smartwatch to control the glasses.

Finally, we learned that unlike some other smartglasses, the Samsung and Google glasses will only have one camera on the right side, with the left sporting an LED to let people know when the camera is on. Samsung says two cameras are unnecessary and that the glasses aren’t intended for 3D face mapping or face recognition.

That last bit should bring some comfort to privacy-conscious folks, especially after Meta quietly added face recognition tech to its smartglasses.
