The Scottish Premiership title will be decided by a gloriously-poised final day decider between Celtic and Hearts after the Hoops netted in the 96th minute to beat Motherwell 3-2.

Kelechi Iheanacho netted from the penalty spot after a controversial decision in time added on to keep Celtic in with a chance of stopping a historic title win for Hearts, who are searching for their first title in 66 years and won 3-0 at home to Falkirk.

The results mean Hearts lead the table by one point ahead of travelling to Parkhead this Saturday and have superior goal difference of five goals, meaning a win or draw would see them clinch the title.

Any win for Celtic at home would see them deny Hearts the title on home soil, with Iheanacho winner massively improving their chances of still ending up as champions – even if the Jam Tarts still hold the better hand overall.

    🍀 “Iconic scenes.”

    Hearts 3-0 Falkirk report

Hearts kept their part of the bargain up in their bid to secure the title before Saturday’s game and in front of their home crowd with a convincing win at Tyneside.

After a nervy start, Frankie Kent rose highest to power a header into the back of the net, before Cammy Devlin reacted quickest to latch onto a loose ball and find the net and spark jubilant scenes, with the title heading to Hearts with Celtic losing at that time.

With attention turning elsewhere, Blair Spittal then ensured the victory was secured for Hearts when he cut inside and bent a wonderful finish into the back of the net to put them in a glorious position to win the title, even if there are bound to be nerves in what is essentially a cup final to decide the league.

🔥 “A thing of beauty from Blair Spittal!”

    Motherwell 2-3 Celtic report

Celtic were stunned early on when Elliot Watt fired Motherwell in front against the defending champions, but Daizen Maeda brought them level just before half-time.

The visitors then got their noses in front early in the second half through Benjamin Nygren’s thunderous effort, but they were then pegged back once again by Liam Gordon as the title swung back firmly into Hearts’ hands.

But just when it looked like Celtic were heading for a draw, meaning they would have would needed a 3-0 over Hearts to win the title, a late VAR check saw a spotkick given for the visitors, which Iheanacho swpet home in confident style to dramatically write another chapter into this extraordinary title race.
