Tori Spelling and Hayden Panettiere were both set to appear at a star-studded horror convention. However, both scream queens had to drop out, with reports claiming both stars were dealing with an “emergency.” In addition, news has come out about who will appear in their place, with one new guest having a surprising connection to one of the stars.
Tori Spelling & Hayden Panettiere Were Set To Appear At Creep I.E. Aftermath In Ontario, California
Creep I.E. Aftermath is a major horror and pop-culture fan convention held at the Ontario Convention Center in California. The three-day event is known for its celebrity guest appearances, as well as over 170 vendors.
The convention previously teased that Tori Spelling and Hayden Panettiere were both set to appear. Promoted as a “reunion” of sorts, both actresses are known for their appearances within the Scream franchise.
Spelling was mentioned as a joke in the original Scream film, only to portray a fictional version of herself in the 1997 sequel, bringing the joke full circle, with her photograph also appearing in other sequels. She also appeared in the horror parody, Scary Movie 2.
For her part, Panettiere has portrayed Kirby Reed throughout the franchise. Originally appearing in Scream 4, she later reprised the role for Scream VI.
Two Replacements Have Seen Been Announced For Panettiere & Spelling
Reportedly, however, Panettiere and Spelling have since cancelled their scheduled appearances on July 11 and July 12. On social media, the con shared, “Hayden Panettiere has an emergency and will not be able to attend this weekend. We are looking forward to her appearing at an upcoming show.” While specifics weren’t shared, a rep for the actress told People that it was “due to a private family matter concerning the health of an elderly relative.”
In addition, the con confirmed that Spelling also had to cancel her appearance. As it was shared, “Tori Spelling has an emergency and can no longer attend. New replacement guest announced later today.”

Face/Off actress Dominique Swain and The Sarah Connor Chronicles star Brian Austin Green were later announced as replacements who would appear in the actresses’ stead. Famously, Green and Spelling worked together as on-screen love interests David Silver and Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210.
Other famous guests who were set to appear at the star-studded event included Jamie Campbell Bower, Fiona Dourif, Christopher Lloyd, Mira Sorvino and Tara Reid. Interestingly, Spelling and Panettiere weren’t the only stars who had to cancel or reschedule their appearances. Other such stars included Christina Ricci, John Carroll Lynch, Carel Struycken, Jimmy Workman and Kevin Durand.
