On The Young and the Restless, fans recently saw Nick Newman find himself as the subject of a dangerous overdose, leaving the character at his most vulnerable. Since then, his actor, Joshua Morrow, has weighed in on the story. While thinking about what an impression the story might have had on fans, he also shared one of the hardest things to film.
Joshua Morrow Has Brought Nick Newman To Life For Decades On The Young & The Restless
Morrow first joined The Young and the Restless in 1994, which proved to be both one of his first and enduring acting roles. The character and the soap have naturally been a big part of his life for years. He had even been part of the band 3Deep with fellow soap alum Eddie Cibrian.
Recently on the soap, Morrow’s character Nick was pushed to the brink thanks to facing off against his mortal enemy, Matt Clark. He recently took something to calm his mind, but this proved to be a dangerous decision.
As shared by TV Insider, Morrow opened up about what was going through his head during this moment on the soap. He shared, “Nick has always been loose and confident and had a carefree attitude about a lot of things.
The actor noted, “He took some drugs to calm his nerves and to prepare for the moment, but he was not in a healthy state of mind to deal with something as dramatic as this. He just kept going further and further down this hole, and it all came to a head.”
Morrow Admitted That Scenes With One Character In Particular Made The Story Especially Hard For Him
As an actor, Morrow noted that he had some reservations when he first heard about the story. He noted, “I was like, ‘I don’t know that it’s very Nick-ish, but let’s give it a whirl. I was a little nervous about it. I hadn’t been nervous about anything since high school, but I was concerned about how the fans would take it.”
Describing Nick as a “hero” to many fans, Morrow was worried about them seeing his character in such a light. However, he felt that fans should take the story as it is and that he himself found himself enjoying it.

Another thing that made the storyline tough for him, however, was his scenes admitting what was going on to his onscreen father, Victor Newman, as played by Eric Braeden. He shared, “I couldn’t not cry in the rehearsal because Eric is like my father, and having to say those things to him, to see the look of disappointment on his face, it was just heartbreaking to me, and he was brilliant in the scenes.”
