Lauren Koslow is best known to many for her work on Days of Our Lives. However, she is set to appear on The Young and the Restless very soon, a soap she actually has a bit of a history with. That said, the part she is going to play might surprise some fans.
Lauren Koslow Appeared On A Few Soaps Before Joining Days Of Our Lives
Koslow became known to many for bringing Kate Roberts to life on Days of Our Lives. Taking over from Deborah Adair, she first appeared as the character in 1996, continuing to play the character over the ensuing decades.
However, Koslow appeared in a few other soaps before joining Days of Our Lives. In fact, one of her first television roles was on The Young and the Restless, in addition to appearing on The Bold and the Beautiful.
From 1984 to 1986, Koslow portrayed Lindsey Wells on The Young and the Restless. On its sister series, she portrayed Margo MacClaine Lynley from 1987 to 1992, later appearing again in 2002.
The Actress Previously Talked About Her Time On The Young & The Restless During A 2019 Podcast
Recently, it was announced that Koslow would be returning to Genoa City. However, she won’t be playing any of her previous characters. Instead, she will be filling in for Jess Walton as Jill Abbott.
Koslow’s stint as Jess will be a brief one. According to TV Insider, Walton, who lives in Oregon, will be unable to travel to Los Angeles for an upcoming story arc.

There is also some irony to Koslow taking on the role of Jill. One of her primary scene partners during her original run on the soap was Brenda Dickson, who played Jill during his time. During a 2019 appearance on the Dishing with Digest podcast, Koslow noted, “She was kind of my nemesis on that show to a degree.”
During the interview, the actress also touched on the relationship between The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives. She mused, “There was this kind of history of a crossover between the two shows. It’s pretty fascinating.”
Both Soaps Have Released Statements Over The News
The Young and the Restless‘ head writer Josh Griffith and executive producer Sally McDonald recently shared a joint statement about Koslow’s return to the soap. As the outlet noted, “We’re extremely grateful to Lauren Koslow for returning to her Y&R roots and temporarily stepping into the role of Jill. We want to extend our sincere thanks to [executive producer] Ken Corday and [co-executive producer] Noel Maxam at Days of Our Lives and Peacock. Their support embodies the collaborative spirit of the daytime television community.”
However, the two also made clear just how much they appreciated Walton and anticipated her eventual return. They continued, “Jess Walton is an enduring cornerstone of Y&R. We look forward to welcoming her back to Genoa City as her schedule permits. And celebrating her extraordinary 40th anniversary as the iconic Jill Abbott.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Days of Our Lives shared, “DAYS is happy to be able to share Lauren with Y&R. And this does not affect her status with the show in any way.” According to the outlet, it’s believed that she is already filming as Jill. Fans are expected to first see her in Genoa City on June 25.
