Jennifer Lawrence is heading back to the romantic comedy genre with a new Apple Original Films project, One Month Mark.
The Oscar-winning actor is attached to star in and produce the film, which marks another collaboration with Apple following Causeway, the documentary Bread & Roses, and Martin Scorsese‘s upcoming drama What Happens at Night. The project is based on an original screenplay by writer, director and performer Sophie Fleur de Bruijn.
According to the official logline, One Month Mark follows two people with completely opposite dating histories: a woman who has never managed to stay in a relationship for longer than a month, and a man who has never gone more than a month without being in one. Their unlikely connection forms the basis of what is expected to be a character-driven romantic comedy.
Lawrence will produce through her company, Excellent Cadaver, alongside her long-time producing partner Justine Ciarrocchi. Apple Studios is developing the project with Chernin Entertainment, with David Ready, Brady Fujikawa and Peter Chernin also producing. De Bruijn will serve as an executive producer.
The film continues a busy period for Lawrence, who recently wrapped production on Scorsese’s What Happens at Night opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor has increasingly balanced high-profile acting roles with producing projects through Excellent Cadaver, establishing herself as one of Hollywood’s most influential creative voices both in front of and behind the camera.
No director, release date or additional casting details have been announced at this stage, but with Lawrence attached and Apple backing the project, One Month Mark is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated romantic comedies currently in development.
