The writer of the TV show It: Welcome to Derry and Argylle, Jason Fuchs, will pen the screenplay for an untitled Transformers for Paramount and Hasbro.
The film is expected to be some sort of story continuation from 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, but specific details are currently being kept under wraps. Michael Bay will co-produce the film, with cast members yet to be announced. Steven Spielberg is also set to executive produce.
This marks one of many Transformers projects currently in development, with the G.I. Joe crossover film being penned by Jurassic World writer Derek Connolly.
Outside of Argylle and the Pennywise prequel show, Fuchs’ other writing credits include 2015’s Pan, the sequel It: Chapter Two and Ice Age 4: Continental Drift. He is currently in the process of writing the live-action adaptation of the anime My Hero Academia. The film will be for Netflix and Legendary.
The live-action Transformers franchise has seen long-term success, which all started back with the first instalment in 2007. Michael Bay directed five feature films in the franchise, after finally coming to a stop with 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight. Outside of the original and that one, he directed Revenge of the Fallen in 2009, Dark of the Moon in 2011, and Age of Extinction in 2014.
The Autobots saw a prequel turn with 2018’s Bumblebee starring Hailee Steinfeld and directed by Travis Knight, and more recently with the animated 2024 film Transformers One.
