Rockstar Games just confirmed that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will be available for pre-orders starting June 25, 2026.
Alongside the reveal, Rockstar also dropped a short clip on YouTube showing off the game’s cover art. While some might be disappointed that it wasn’t another trailer, today’s drops suggest Rockstar’s marketing machine is about to shift into high gear. (I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a new trailer on or before the June 25 pre-order date).
Pre-orders will open for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA VI, but there will still be a lengthy wait to play — Rockstar hasn’t shifted the November 19 release date. And PC players will have to wait even longer to get the game.
There’s been plenty of speculation around whether Rockstar will actually meet the November release date, or if it will delay GTA VI again. Rockstar already delayed the game multiple times, and has released minimal information about it so far. Meanwhile, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two insisted it will meet the November release date. And with an official pre-order date, it seems even more likely the game will hit that release window.
Moreover, with GTA VI set to be an absolute juggernaut, every other game is trying to get out of its way. The rest of the 2026 game release calendar is in chaos, with tons of games vying for earlier release windows to avoid getting overshadowed by GTA.
Meanwhile, Rockstar just announced free upgrades for its last title, GTA V, allowing people who own the game on PS4 and Xbox One to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions at no additional cost.
