The United States is set to celebrate a big milestone. To help usher it in, CNN will host a special, Independence Eve Live. Two famous figures are already set to host the show: Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.
Anderson Cooper & Andy Cohen Will Be Hosting In New York City’s Times Square Five Months Before New Year’s
The United States of America is set to celebrate its 250th anniversary. This is the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
CNN will celebrate the event with its extensive The Fourth in America: Celebrating 250 programming. This will include Independence Eve Live, which will be hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen.
This reunites the two, who traditionally co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live each December, which appears to be the inspiration for the upcoming show. Notably, the event is set to take place in New York City’s Times Square.
The special, whose full title is Independence Eve Live With Anderson & Andy: Celebrating 250, will air on Friday, July 3, on CNN, starting at 8 PM ET/PT, lasting until 12:30 AM. Cooper and Cohen will count down to the United States’ semi-quincentennial with special guests. Much like the December holiday, there will be a unique midnight ball drop.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cooper and Cohen will team up with “celebrated American icons, cultural legends, and inspiring everyday heroes whose stories reflect the spirit, resilience, and diversity of the United States.” CNN reporters and correspondents from stations all over the country will also appear throughout the special. They will report on how Americans celebrate the country’s 250th birthday.
CNN Will Host More Celebrations On The Following Day: The Fourth Of July
The celebrations are naturally expected to follow on Independence Day, the Fourth of July. The network will host The Fourth in America: Celebrating 250 special, which will be based in the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The Great American State Fair will also be covered, a summer festival backed by the Trump administration.
Cooper will then join Pamela Brown in Boston at 6 PM ET/PT. The network will then broadcast the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, which takes place from the Hatch Memorial Shell off the Charles River. An orchestra will be conducted by Keith Lockhart. Lainey Wilson, Chance the Rapper, and Trombone Shorty are also set to perform in Boston.

Cooper is known to many for hosting Anderson Cooper 360° for CNN. This also comes out after he recently made his exit from CBS News’ 60 Minutes. Cohen is known for his work with Bravo, such as hosting Watch What Happens Live! and executive producing The Real Housewives franchise.
