Mike Sorrentino and his wife Lauren Sorrentino have launched a monthly scholarship program called Christopher’s Bed, covering addiction treatment costs for individuals who can’t afford care on their own.

The program takes its name from Lauren’s brother Christopher, who died from addiction at 25 years old. In addiction treatment, a “bed” refers to a placement spot in a facility. Christopher’s Bed funds one of those spots each month, fully covered.

Mike announced it on Instagram this week. He described the moment they revealed the program to Lauren’s parents as “an emotional moment for our family.” The couple kept it as a family moment first before making it public.

Each month, Christopher’s Bed will cover one person’s full treatment at Archangel Centers. The program is built for people facing financial hardship. Cost shouldn’t stop someone from getting a second chance, and that’s exactly the gap the Sorrentinos are trying to close.

“Finances should never be the reason someone can’t get a second chance,” Mike wrote in his caption.

He was open about what drove them. “We wanted to create something meaningful in his memory,” Mike said, “something that gives others the opportunity to get the help they need before it’s too late.” He also described the initiative as a way “to turn pain into purpose and help save lives in Christopher’s name.”

For anyone who has watched a family member struggle with addiction, those words carry real weight. Christopher’s story reflects something that millions of families know firsthand. Financial barriers are one of the most common reasons people don’t pursue treatment. A monthly scholarship can’t fix that at scale, but for one person every month, it can change the outcome entirely.

Mike became famous as “The Situation” on MTV’s Jersey Shore in the early 2010s. He’s been candid about his own battles with substance abuse over the years, and he served federal prison time in 2019 following a tax evasion conviction. He came back from that with a clearer sense of what he wanted to build. He and Lauren have spent the years since focused on community work, and Christopher’s Bed is the most personal expression of that yet.

Lauren carries this loss in a way that goes beyond public statements. She and Mike have built something that turns private grief into a real resource for strangers facing the same crossroads Christopher once faced.

The scholarship is open now. Anyone looking for help can call the Archangel Centers treatment line at (888) 464-2144 or visit archangelcenters.com.

Mike closed his post with a message worth holding on to. “If you or someone you love needs help, please know there is hope and there are options.”
