Daytime television will look a lot different this fall. Kelly Clarkson announced that she’s ending her daytime talk show after the current season. The decision came as a shock because her show is immensely popular. It was a tough decision, not just because of her fans, but also because of the show’s beloved crew.
There are still a few more months left for The Kelly Clarkson Show. However, she got emotional and broke down in tears as the end creeps closer. Keep reading to find out what set her off.
Kelly Clarkson Ends Daytime Talk Show Despite High Ratings
Kelly Clarkson became a household name after winning the first season of American Idol. In 2019, she appeared in living rooms across the country when her daytime talk show debuted. The show moved from Los Angeles to New York City a few years ago at her request. But now, it’s ending.
The Voice coach suffered a huge loss to her family when her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, passed away in the summer of 2025. It was especially difficult for their two children, River and Remy. Kelly Clarkson decided to end her daytime talk show to spend more time with her children. It goes off the air this fall after 7 seasons.
The decision was a surprise to many, partly because the talk show was consistently a ratings winner. Sherri Shepherd’s talk show is also ending after getting canceled.
She Breaks Down In Tears Ahead As End Draws Near
Kelly Clarkson is still filming her talk show with some of her favorite guests. Actress Rita Wilson appeared on the show this week to promote her new album. While she’s known mostly for her acting career and marriage to Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson is an accomplished singer.
She released her sixth studio album, Sound of a Woman, in early May. But she took a moment during her appearance to lavish Kelly Clarkson with praise. “I wanna thank you for the years that you’ve been doing your show. I wanna thank you for literally changing the game when it came to daytime television. The fact that you love music. That you have brought so much music to daytime that you have shared with us,” the actress said.

Rita Wilson continued, “Your voice, your gifts, and everyone else’s and your incredible band. I really wanna thank you because it has made a big change in my life. So thank you, Kelly.”
The words made the talk show host quite emotional. She tried to hide her feelings by saying she was “fine.” However, she was clearly touched by the tribute and the reality of her show’s final few months is setting in.
Beloved Segment Returns With Surprising Participant
Season 7 has been a little different than previous seasons. Fans complained about a lack of effort this season with the Kellyoke and Cameo-oke segments disappearing for episodes at a time.
But Cameo-oke returned during the episode. Rita Wilson took the stage to perform her new song, “Diamonds.” Unfortunately for viewers, there are only a few more Kellyokes and Cameo-okes before the show goes off the air for good.
At least with Kelly Clarkson as host. Rumors persist online that the show will return with a new host or hosts. Fans can watch Kelly Clarkson on Season 30 of The Voice this fall.
