During the 2026 Android Show, Google revealed details about the new Googlebook designed with Gemini Intelligence in mind. Googlebooks are distinct from Chromebooks that run ChromeOS, and instead, use a new modern OS with Google Play that’s designed to work with Android devices.
One of the Googlebook features that separates it from other laptops is the new intelligent cursor. When you wiggle your cursor, it offers quick, contextual suggestions every time you point at your screen. When you point at a date, it’ll suggest an email to set up a meeting. If you select two images, like your living room and a new couch, you can easily combine the images.
Googlebooks also have this new ‘Create your Widget’ capability, which lets users connect Google apps like Gmail and Calendar to create a personalized dashboard. A random countdown, restaurant reservations and more can all become a widget.
Additionally, Googlebook is built to be seamlessly compatible with Android phones. With this new device, you can use Android apps from your phone directly on your laptop. For instance, if you forget your daily Duolingo language session, you can view your phone’s screen and complete your lesson without downloading the app to your Googlebook. Also, sharing files from your phone is easy with Quick Access, which lets you view, search or insert your phone’s files on your laptop.
Google is working with partners like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo to make the first Googlebooks, which will also feature a unique glowbar. Googlebooks become available this fall.
